Gas Mileage on minds of Car buyers

by Jonathan Coffman on September 10, 2005

Andrew Haag wrote a story that has been beat into the ground by every media outlet this year, rising gas prices and car buying habits. However There is something about his story that just doesn’t sound like all of the others that I have read recently. I can’t put my finger on what it is, but I found it quite interesting. Perhaps it is the car dealerships who say their sales are going up through the high gas prices.

The infographic on the front page with prices to drive certain distances is very informative and presents a lot of information in a small but effective space. It concerns me however that they used a very similar graphic in last week’s Friday or Saturday edition to demonstrate how much it would cost to drive to the Mizzou game in Kansas City, they used the same cars and figures then. It looks like they repackaged it now that they had more time to play with it.
