Adobe MAX Introduction
September 30, 2007 by Jonathan · Leave a Comment
I’m at the Adobe developers convention all week, and despite some minor technical difficulties this morning (forgot to charge my lifecasting battery) I’m at the conference end enjoying the people and sessions.
All day today I’m in a session called Unlocking Cross-Media Workflows, it’s a topic that is vitally important to many of the projects that I find myself being affiliated with everyday. Questions of workflows and efficiency count in the new-business and this session has already been a help.
Who knew thatjust by using Fireworks, you can get the same ‘Photoshop” save to web quality, but at half the file-size? The team-leader in this session is a former Macromedia guy, so some things are definitely tilted that direction., but overall it’s very useful.
I will be publishing notes and information both on this blog and a soon-to-be launched Google Docs platform for use by clients and peers.
I’m currently sitting next to a guy from the company that brought us the marvelous software Camtasia, I’ve been sharing our usage patterns, and am excited that we may be able to integrate their great software closer into our workflow, and not just for the training purposes we’re currently using it for.
I’ll post again during lunch more than likely, my battery is quite low at the moment.

I’m currently sitting in the St. Louis International Airport waiting on my flight to Chicago. I’ll be attending the Adobe MAX 2007 Conference Monday through Wednesday (Yes it’s Saturday, I’m going to pre-event training Sunday). Throughout the week I’ll be blogging live right here about the cool people, tools, and session that I meet and attend. Be sure to add my feed to your RSS reader to get up to the minute details.I’ll also be Twittering like a crazy person (thanks @PocketTweets for iPhone!) so be sure to check out my Twitter timeline. As if my blog and Twitter weren’t enough, I’ll also be Lifecasting through justin.tv whenever possible. I’ve got a 3G Cingular Laptop Connect card for my powerbook on this trip, so I should have high speed web access whenever, wherever. You can watch me live in my hotel suite, at the Adobe MAX conference, and meeting with web 2.0 startups about jobs LIVE by visiting: NEWSolutions.tv Lifecast.

Switching Server Control Panels
September 24, 2007 by Jonathan · Leave a Comment
Yuck! That’s probably the best and most non-profain way of explaining what this is. Server migrations are never easy and are always more complex than you plan on. I still have one server that runs Plesk (which is fine, but not as easy to run as cPanel), and I would love to be able to get it switched over to using cPanel.
Unfortunately, the two server GUIs are nearly mutually exclusive. Neither particularly likes the other and it shows! Oh how I wish they would talk or at least provide some method of switching, if any of my readers know a guy who can do this kind of migration be sure to let me know.
That’s all for today, I’ll be posting some more information from the Poynter Series again soon so look forward to that.
