Nielsen – Press Release: Word-of-Mouth the Most Powerful Selling Tool: Nielsen Global Survey

Everything I’ve been working on in the past 4 years isn’t all for naught! Neilsen released this study a couple days ago and it’s extremely interesting. I highly recommend you check it out. Essentially they’ve taken real life data and figured out that word-of-mouth is the most powerful recommendation engine… which is wonderful because with all the social-media applications we’re building… that’s a form of word-of-mouth.

In fact, my word of mouth has a much longer reach now than it ever has before! My blog has the potential to reach millions of people in a few instances by way of the various places where it gets posted and syndicated. This is truly amazing.

Something else that makes me very happy is that these social and new-media applications appear to be gaining strength in credibility which makes all of this work that so many people are doing even more credible and important.

I’m very interested in seeing more data and research done on this type of subject, if you know of anything PLEASE send me an email of post a comment!
