The Impact of the “In Crowd” » The Buzz Bin

The Buzz bin has some very intellectual and insightful thoughts on the impact of the social-media and the ‘in-crowd’ in our social lives. The basic premise of the post is that those of us evanglizing and taking advantage of the social-media tools out there are ground-breaking and pioneers in this new online gold-rush.

I’ve been hearing more and more lately about the next web bubble, and I tend to believe it too, I think we’re getting very close to breaking through into commonness and the masses. The number of genius creative types who are working nonstop on making engaging and useful User Experiences on the web is amazing. I was very fortunate to be able to meet many of those people at Adobe MAX last week and I continue to be amazed each day when I sit down at the computer for my ‘research’ time in finding new and exciting uses of and for the Internet.

The social-media bubble is about to explode, and in a good way. While I hope it’s not Facebook that captures the market, I do hope that it happens, and I’m confident that it will. There are too many very strong forces and movements in online development and rich internet applications not to have it become accessible to everyone.

Indeed, the Contributr project that I’m working on right now is aiming at a very high goal, to further minimize the barriers to entry that the public has in creating and sharing their own ‘news‘. More on this later, but until then, enjoy your day!
